I’m not sure if our souls were saved from sin or if we were led to sin; but dinner tonight at The Salvation Cafe was heavenly!
It’s not that rare to go to a restaurant and have one really good dish on the table. However in my experience it is exceedingly rare to have every dish at the table be exceptional, but that is exactly what the chef at The Salvation Cafe was able to produce this evening.
We ordered a pitcher of red sangria and three amazing appetizers to share:
- Mussels in green curry coconut sauce with Thai basil.
- Crispy Calamari with sweet and spicy vinaigrette and wasabi cream.
- Quattro Formaggi with whole grain crostini.
A few of us ordered the soup special – a Thai Lobster Soup with coconut and lime. Can you say mmm mmm mmm?
Then we ordered our meals:
I LLLOOOVVVEEE beets, so after one bite of my salad I knew I had ordered exactly the right thing. And when Jeff gave me a bite of his duck meatloaf I knew how much he loved me…..to give up a taste, even a small one, of the amazing creation that was his dinner was proof of his affection for me! But then, he surprised me even further by demonstrating his love for everyone at the table – he passed his entrée for tasting. Of course, everyone followed suit. I can honestly say one entrée was better than the next and I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Over the years I have seen my husband clean his plate countless times, but I do not believe I’ve ever seen him clean it so well that it could have been confused with a plate just out of the dishwasher!!!! It gives new meaning to the term, “clean plate club.”
Just when we thought we couldn’t eat anything else, the waitress brought the dessert menu. Following tradition, we ordered three desserts for passing and a few coffees/espressos.
The only way to describe our meal tonight…..mmm mmm mmm!
